L’accordéon

It has become my opinion that the Accordion is the most versatile instrument in the world.  You can play anything on it!

Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor.  I’m sure you’ve heard it before.

This is one of the most ridiculous displays of musicianship I have ever seen.  The Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto is one of the most difficult violin pieces ever written….and this kid can play it on accordion, note-for-note, along with the orchestra parts.   His phrasing is impeccable.   Watch and be amazed:

Anna: “Did you see that thumb extension?  Beautiful…”

Thanks!

Sorry this is a bit tardy, but we’ve been sleeping off the KICKASS TIME we had at Felix’s on Friday.

Thanks to Sheri, Kurt and the gang for having us. We definitely had a good time!

That also might have been the last performance of the Cougar set for quite some time. We Couged all over everyone and minds were blown. Dogtown will take a while to recuperate, that’s for sure! Or reCOUGARate! That’s better.

Anyway, thanks again!

Shocking Blue…

…is what I’ve been listening to today.  They are the Dutch band who wrote the song ‘Venus’:

Hey kiddies! We have a show this Friday, September 18th, at  Felix’s in Dogtown.

We are planning to go on around 9:30 or so.

This will be our first show of Dive Poets tunes with Anna, so come and welcome her and we might bust out some Johnny Cougar.

Jane Tellini is also on the bill, who I’m sure will also be a bunch of fun.

$6.00 gets you in the door. Be there! Be Square!

Hope to see you!

Hey kids. We seem to be growing by leaps and bounds… After a stellar performance at the Undercover Weekend show, we’ve decided to bring Anna Moffatt into the Dive Poets family. Anna can play viola, piano, guitar, and she sings wonderfully. We are sure she will do just fine. Rachel is excited to get another lady around to offset the stinky boy equation at practice, too.

Here is a pic of her rocking the freedom out on Saturday night as a Cougette:

This is crazypants talk, but Anna is going to play her first show of Dive Poets music with us on September 18th, at Felix’s Restaurant and Venue in Dogtown!! Check our Upcoming Shows page for updates about cover charge, other acts, etc.

Woot. Still more new and exciting things in the works that need to stay under our hats for the moment… We’ll keep you posted.

Hey kids! We had a ton of fun at the Undercover weekend. All the bands were great, and overall it was one of the most awesome shows we’ve ever played. Thanks to Mr. Tomko and the folks at the Firebird for having us! We’ll post a couple videos soon.
