We are playing at Off Broadway this Thursday with a great band from California called Dusty Rhodes and the River Band. We play first, probably around 9:00pm 8:30 pm. Be sure to come out, say hi, and drink a lot of beer.

So I am pretty excited to see Sonic Youth tonight for FREE under the Arch as part of the Live on the Levee concert series. I have only seen them once – on the Murray Street tour, at The Pageant – and they were beyond good. Unfortunately, I missed them a few years ago when they shared a bill with the Flaming Lips.

Even if you are not a big Sonic Youth fan, please come out and show the Live on the Levee people that it wasn’t a mistake to book a non-mainstream band.

Just finished reading this the other day.

It is really good.  He does a great job of putting everything in perspective, and leaves no stone unturned.   Among the things he covers: his influences, the creation of his sound, heroin addiction, the music world of 1960s Britain, all the people he played with over the years, doomed love affairs, years of alcoholism, the death of his son Conor, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s death while they were on tour together, dealing with various addictions and starting a family late in life.

I would recommend this book to just about anybody.  Except for those weird people who care about neither reading nor music.
